The day feels like standing at the edge of the ocean.
Never had I walked so slowly through the park. I could discover each footstep, one by one. And everywhere, tiny pin pricks of acid green life.
Every patch that wasn't green green green was rust and sere. Small drops of rain pattered in low hushed drum beats skittering off last autumn's dry leaves.
And I said, Do you want to head back? Are you cold?
